Megatron, Time, and Photography

Watching Megatron when I am home has made blogging very difficult. When I start to type, she attacks my hands – while cute, this can sometimes be very painful. As a result, I have just stopped trying when Levi isn’t at home. Right now it’s only happening because Megatron is sitting in front of Levi sleeping while he plays World of Warcraft.

Not much is going on in my life aside from the puppy stuff. Everything is pretty stable around here. Since my last blog entry, I have returned back to work where I have a new boss. At first I was afraid of how things were going to turn out, but for the most part the change has been a positive one. I won’t say anything else on this subject, because blogging about coworkers is kind of a bad idea.

Tomorrow, if weather permits, I am going to be heading out to take some photos with a friend. I think it’s going to be fun. I hope she has some fresh ideas, because my photography has been stale lately. I don’thave a lot of friends who also like photography, so I am super excited about tomorrow. Hopefully the plans don’t fall through.

Colds, Allergies and Megatron.

A lot has happened since my last post, which just happened to be a “Wordless Wednesday.” First, I have gotten over my cold.

The cold I had had to be the worst cold ever. I’m probably exaggerating but it was really pretty bad. To top things off, I am still sniffly but for another reason: I am allergic to everything. And the reason why this is a problem? I have been outside constantly over the last few days walking our new puppy Megatron!

Megatron flew in on Saturday, but I have been so busy with her that I haven’t been able to blog at all. She is doing very well, though we are having a little bit of trouble with getting her to eat dry food. We are going to try wet food to see if she will take to that a little easier. We need her to eat more because she is slightly underweight for her age. Correction, having a puppy has made this post very difficult to write, we have switched her to wet food and she loves it – also, it is now Wednesday.

Megatron is a real handful. Potty training her makes it really difficult to get stuff done around the house. I need to finish up the dishes and the laundry, but leaving her alone is not really an option. She isn’t completely crate trained yet, so I can’t just crate her and go do laundry and stuff. We’re working on it, but we aren’t quite there yet.

I’ve got a busy day ahead of me.

School, Cars, Relaxation, and Megatron

Today is the first day of Spring quarter for Levi, and that means that I have the day off from work. Levi is taking a class at TCC’s Gig Harbor campus, and won’t be able to get there in time after work unless he has the car. Seeing as how I don’t really need to work 5 days a week, we figured the best solution would be for me to take Mondays off and give him the car on those days. So far, I am liking this arrangement!

Today, I got to sleep in and enjoy a stress free morning with no work. After breakfast, I did laundry and finished up the dishes. I then proceeded to remove the disgusting scrap of carpet from our back patio that the previous occupants of our apartment used as a welcome mat. While a great idea in theory, the carpet turned into a disgusting moldy mess in practice. As soon as the patio dries out a bit, I will be going out there with a broom to get it cleaned off some more. I’d love to be able to use the patio in the summer time, and me getting it cleaned is going to be a big part of that. I may need to have the maintenance staff send somebody down the have it pressure washed…it’s pretty filthy.

To say the least, I have really missed having Mondays off.

While dealing with the carpet on the back patio this morning, I managed to get locked out of the apartment. Bella knocked the stick on our back door into the track after I had shut the door, and I couldn’t get back in. Of course I decided that it was a great idea to leave my cell phone and keys inside the apartment while I was outside, and as a result couldn’t get back in the front door either. I walked up to the management office to get a key, and they didn’t even have the right copy of our key so I had to call Levi at work. We are going tonight to get a copy made. Maybe two, so that my mom can have one as well.

We received an update on Megatron this morning. She is doing great and has gained 4 oz. since the start of the weaning process about a week and a half ago. She will have a veterinarian appointment in three days and then will fly into Seattle on the 7th assuming she is healthy enough the fly. (Currently, there are no known issues that would prevent her from flying.) We have an appointment at our local Banfield Pet Hospital on Sunday to have her looked at after the flight. We chose to go with Banfield because of recommendations of our friends, we will be signing Megatron up for one of their wellness plans as well to help supplement the cost of her first year of veterinarian services as well.

We are very excited about Megatron’s arrival next week, and she already has a ton of toys at home awaiting her arrival as well. She is very spoiled.

Organization, Work, and Megatron.

Over the past few days I have worked diligently to get my closets and other spaces of the apartment organized. Levi and I bought a new dresser from IKEA on Saturday morning for our closet, and the apartment has been a mess because of it. You see, I had to destroy my current “closet organization system” in order to get the new dresser into our closet. This also resulted with me, once again, having too many things. In between Levi’s army gear and my junk, I had a bedroom full of stuff with no place for it to go. To solve this problem, I placed the stuff Levi uses in a drawer in the dresser and we went through all of his old uniforms and determined what we can get rid of. The result? One large stack of old uniforms to go and two large tubs of gear to keep. Now we have an organized closet, and a clean house!

Work has been over staffed the past few days, but they keep over scheduling us because we are expecting a surprise visit from our supervisor any day now to inspect how we are performing. The result is an over staffed store that is super clean, and when they don’t show up they start sending people home. It’s gotten to the point, over the last few days, where I will go in and not expect to stay my entire shift at all. I don’t have a problem with this because I don’t really like to work more than part time anyway. In fact, next week I will no longer be working on Mondays to accommodate Levi’s school schedule and I couldn’t be happier! (Levi will be taking a class at another campus and will need the car immediately after work to get there on time.)

Not working Mondays is going to allow me a little more time with our new puppy when she arrives. Hopefully I will be able to really focus on potty training her for the first few weeks. I am expecting accidents, but I am hoping that my lax work schedule will really allow me to minimize the amount. I’ve already prepared myself for the possibility, I have a fresh bottle of Resolve and an enzyme based deodorizer. Speaking of our puppy Megatron, she weighs 2 lb 1 oz this week. She has lost a bit of weight since her last weigh in, which is normal for a puppy that is being weaned from its mother’s milk. Here is a photo of Megatron, as of yesterday:

She is looking as cute as ever, and I can not wait until the 7th when she arrives! Her ears are really starting to perk up more, and her nose is starting to get a bit darker.

That’s all for today.

Puppies, Brownies, and Work.

I figure I should preface this post with a photo of what may possibly be the cutest puppy on the face of planet earth. Sure, I’m biased, but it’s my blog and I’m allowed to be. It’s not like I’m a journalist…I can make up whatever facts I want to and nobody will care. Megatron, the aforementioned and pictured puppy, is around 6 weeks of age as of this entry and weighs 2lb 2oz.

Tonight I am making brownies for some of Levi’s coworkers, and the brownie mix is ridiculously complicated. It is calling for softened butter, and eggs and the topping requires me to melt chocolate chips. When brownie mixes start requiring me to soften butter, and melt chocolate, they stop being convenient mixes and start becoming pre measured flour and sugar. I feel like it shouldn’t be called a mix if it requires more than water and oil…maybe an egg. (Furthermore, world, placing a stick of butter in between two sheets of wax paper and flattening it with a rolling pin does not soften butter, it flattens hard butter – the flattened butter is no softer than is was before, it is just inconveniently hard and flat.)

Speaking of brownies, did I mention that I don’t even get to taste these brownies? All of this work, and all I get is a potential “thank you” and the torture of smelling them in my apartment. Did I also mention that I am doing all of this only after my date with my vacuum cleaner and bottle of resolve this evening after a ridiculous day of work?

Speaking of work, I’m trying to transfer to a restaurant that is closer to my apartment. If that plan fails, I am just going to walk down the street handing out résumés to the local businesses. I’m tired of paying for gas in my car, I feel like 75% of my income goes to paying for gas. There is a restaurant down the street that I could easily ride my bike to in under 10 minutes, and I should be able to transfer without much work – I’ve just got to convince my boss to let it happen.

Ramblings, Sleep Deprivation, Music, and Megatron

This morning I woke up around 7AM, and knew immediately that I wasn’t going to be able to get anymore sleep in. This wouldn’t be such a bad thing, except that I really have been neglecting sleep these last few days – the most glaring example being Monday night, which I’ve yet to recover from. In all reality though, going out on Monday was worth it – it was the first time I’ve spent my birthday with friends in years. (We went to 1022 South in Tacoma, WA – it was pretty fantastic.)

Aside from my birthday on Monday, not much is going on. Last week my web server was arrived in the mail, and I promptly put it up on eBay to sell. (I don’t have the room for another computer in the house right now, nor the need for one.) The server fetched a pretty good price, on account of the fact that I am including a trackpad and keyboard with the sale. (It also has a large memory upgrade, it was a web server after all.) Even though I am happy it sold for a good price, and that it sold fast, I wish I could have listed it for 5 days instead of 3. (Had I listed for 5, I would have been able to sleep in today!) Right now, I am just sitting around waiting for the post office to open, so I can take the very large box in to be shipped. I think the buy will be happy that it should be arriving on Saturday morning.

Today I have to work at 11AM and I won’t be off until 5PM. I don’t like working that late, because Levi gets home before me. When I can, I like to pick the house up before he gets home because I think he likes it. When he gets home before me, I can’t do this. This, in combination with having stuff to do so early, sort of puts me in an icky mood. Because I live so far away from work, I won’t be able to get anything done after I get home from the post office which doesn’t help the annoyed state I’m in.

In other news, I really love Spotify. It’s helping me discover new music, which is always nice. Right now, I am rediscovering the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I’d forgotten how much I love them over the years, and being reminded is fantastic. Spotify is great, because it allows me time to listen to an entire album without purchasing it up front. (Which is horrible if the album is bad..) Unfortunately, Spotify is bad because I’ve got a list of songs and albums I’d like to buy from iTunes now that I probably can’t afford right now.

I don’t have much else to say. Also, I really need to get doing soon. To end this on a happy note, here is an adorable picture of Megatron. (I’ll post more as soon as I get them. The breeder will probably e-mail me some more this weekend, possibly tonight or tomorrow.)

Blogging, Birthdays, Work, and Puppies.

Once every five days is apparently the best possible expectation of blogging frequency from me. Fail, I know.

Right now, I am sitting around enjoying my day off from work. As today is my birthday, I’ve established that the best possible gift I could have given myself today was this day off. Unfortunately I didn’t think to ask for tomorrow off and, as a result, I have a very gnarly 9.5 hour shift tomorrow that I am sure will be filled with “win.”

Levi and I had a great weekend. On Saturday we invited some friends over for waffles in the morning, they seemed to be a hit. I took a chance on a new recipe and it turned out wonderful, I’ll definitely be making it again. (Though I must admit, instant mixes are very tempting…and easy.) On Sunday, we relaxed during the day and went out to dinner at night. We went to a Mongolian Grill – it was fantastic. (Though I always find that my food always ends up next to a heaping bowl of terrible vegetables. No, I do not want your baby corns, person in front of me..)

Today, we don’t really have any plans other than staying at home relaxing. (And possibly going out for a drink later.. but I’m not to sure about the logistics of that one yet.) I’m don’t usually do much on my birthday, because I don’t like a lot of attention thrown my way. I’m shy, I guess. In the past, I have my birthday avoiding Facebook with my phone on silent so as to avoid the deluge of “Happy Birthday!“‘s until I can properly deal with them all at the end of the day. Fortunately for me, I don’t have as many friends now so I don’t have to worry about hundreds of “Happy Birthday“‘s. While I appreciate all well wishes that come my way, sometimes the sheer volume can be daunting!

Before I end this post, I want to talk about my amazing husband some more. For my birthday he bought me a Blackberry PlayBook, which I am really enjoying. He is also buying us a Puppy. (Something I haven’t yet mentioned here because I wanted to gauge public opinion in my offline life before announcing it to the rest of the world.) The puppy in question is a Boston Terrier, and we’re naming her Megatron. As of right now she is around 5 weeks old, and will be flying in from Oklahoma to the local airport here on the 7th of April. I am very excited about her joining our family, and I think she will help us move on after having to re-home our cat Peanut. (Who, I am happy to add, was adopted within a week of being dropped off at a local shelter!) And, without further ado, a photo!

Dream Stephen, “Snow” and Music.

Last night I had a dream that I was getting into bed, and as I was getting into bed I was thinking to myself that I should blog about how lazy I am. The worst part about it all, was that dream Stephen though this was a fantastic idea and that people would love to read it. Well, I have two words for dream Stephen: Bite me. (Softly, please… – OK, so that’s four and not three..) Seriously though, I called myself lazy in my sleep, who does that?! Right now I am sitting on the couch in my living room listening to Pandora and blogging in an attempt to prove dream Stephen wrong. (So essentially, I’m sitting on my ass doing almost nothing.)

Sometime between last night and early this morning it snowed. It isn’t a lot of snow, and the trees outside my backdoor make it look like it is even less snow than it actually is, but it is still snow. Fortunately for me, I don’t need to call in “snow” to work because it will be melted by the time I have to leave. It’s a gorgeous day outside, sunny and beautiful and I suspect it might even get slightly warm outside today. (It was sort of warm yesterday when the sun came out.) I don’t need or want hot weather, I am just tired of cold and wet – I’m ready for a little bit of warmth.

I’m having some difficulty blogging this morning, I keep getting distracted. Pandora keeps playing weird music while simultaneously trying to slip “Glee” covers into my playlist. I went into a rage when an A Capella version of Ben Folds’ “You Don’t Know Me” came on, I thought for sure it was the “Glee” cast ruining another good song. They have a tendency to do that at times – the first time they covered Adele I about had a fit. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being creative…but sometimes they just need to stop neutering music.

Speaking of music, this morning I’ve decided to try out Spotify. The service looks promising, but their mobile app doesn’t support CDMA BlackBerries. My BlackBerry is a CDMA BlackBerry, so I am out of luck there. This issue will prevent me from upgrading to the premium version, because I can’t use the mobile app. (For those of you who don’t know, CDMA is the network technology that Verizon uses.) Supposedly there is an app in the works that supports the Bold 9930 (my phone) but I am not holding my breath for it.

Now that I have babbled for a little bit this morning, I think it is probably for the best that I stop. This post was both uninformative, and terrible and probably shouldn’t be published. I’m going to be awesome and do it anyway..but only because I’ve got a photo of the “snow” and the first paragraph might be slightly amusing to somebody.

P.S. I’m finishing this post while the A-Trak Dub Mix version of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll” is playing. It’s fantastic.
